Emborios (Chios)
High (April to September)
Low (October to March)

The accommodation is suitable for up to 4 people, two sinlge beds (which can be pushed together) and a sofa-bed in the lounge. It is the front ground floor air conditioned apartment, just 200 metres from the harbour, tavernas and small supermarket. Out of season, these may have very reduced hours or be closed, one taverna however is usualy open throughout the year. The garden has many friut trees and you are welcome to help yourself to any of the fruits that may be ripe, in the front garden. Larger permanent supermarkets are just 5 (Pyrgi) and 10Km (Armolia) away. The main shopping area being in Chios town, just north of the airport.

The apartment is approximately 40 sq ms, on the ground floor, with a sofa bed and dining table and chairs. It has air conditioning, TV and DVD provided. The kitchen has a fridge, cooker hob, microwave, coffee, tea and toaster facilities. The bathroom has solar heated hot water to a shower, hand basin and a toilet. There is a patio outside of the front door of about 40 sq ms and garden furniture. There are small gardens all around the building, with fields to the rear and mountain views to both front and rear. Single story buildings to the left and right are a nice distance away.

The weather is idylic, never a cloud in the summer, occassional rain starts at the end of September and I have been looking for shade whilst having a coffee in December and looking out over orchards of mandarine and other citrus fruits. In January 2004 however, there was snow for the first time on over 40 years. You will find many medieval villages where everyday life continues with a town square and the obligatory array of wonderful tavernas.

As you will see from the satellite photograph, Turkey is just a (long) stones throw away and there are daily boat trips from the main port in Chios to Cesme, and buses from there to the main city of Izmir.

Above all else, we want you to enjoy your stay and to come again. There are a couple of points to note, The tap water is "salty" and not recommended for drinking, containers are provided for the many spring water taps in the villages, or you can buy bottled water very cheaply. The island is not a tourist centre and so toilets have not been upgraded for accepting toilet paper. This is placed in a small bin and should be emptied daily (it's a small price to pay).
